We replaced the gin with blanco tequila and worked back from there: the Campari stays, and the vermouth blend is adjusted to carry the weight of the agave.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWhat comes out is drier and more savoury than a standard Negroni. The agave brings an earthiness that gin cannot reach. The Campari bitterness is still there and the sweet vermouth still rounds it off, but the tequila takes the whole thing somewhere else.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt is named for Joshua Tree, where we were married in 2016.
